Malawi Institute of Tourism (MIT) students of Blantyre campus, visited and cleaned Blantyre museum premises as a way of celebrating world tourism month.
During the visit, MIT students moped, cleaned museum's objects and artefacts and swept the surroundings.
According to students’ class representative of Blantyre campus, Mphatso Mbangwe, she said their programme of study deals with finding means to attracts tourists, good and clean environment is a favourable condition in tourism resorts.

Meanwhile, curator tour guide assistant of Blantyre museum, Chuma Chiyenda, appreciates the MIT students for the work they rendered at the museum.
“In our buildings we have objects and artefacts if they are unclean attracts flies and spoils them, so the cleaning work done make our objects protected from being damaged and looks attractive for our tourists”, curator tour guide assistant, Chiyenda said.
A Nigerian late Ignatius Amaduwa Atigbi proposed 27 september to be world tourism day in 1980 and it was recognised in 2009.
The theme of this year is "Tourism and Green Investments.
